Lake View Terrace, CA: Senior Lead Officer Larry Martinez, whose area includes Lake View Terrace and Shadow Hills, took his Community Walk to the next level, going on horseback through the wash. Meeting in the horse rest area provided by All Nations Church off Foothill Place, over 15 riders took the churches horse trail and exited their access gate to ride over to Orcas Park where the Police had their information van waiting with cookies and refreshments. This took place on Friday July 29th.
Led through the wash area by Otis Wallace, who provided horses from his rent barn and Katherine Carpenter, they made quite a site. Representatives from Search & Rescue were at the van to provide information to the riders and others who welcomed them about public safety & preparedness issues. Information handout were available as well. Among those participating were members of the San Fernando Valley Rangers and our local Field Deputy from Council Member Wendy Gruel’s office, Liberty Mesa.
