With all the media coverage of the closing of the Pico Rivera Stables (the Bicentennial Park Stables) no one has stepped up to the plate to address the real reasons behind the closing and some of the hard facts. The Los Angeles Wave Newspaper was the only one to tell it like it is.
In an effort to remain politically neutral, no one would tell the viewers where they could go for more information. All you have to do is go online to www.pr-ctip.org, and there is a wealth of information on this matter.
There are huge discrepancies with the amount of money that the city of Pico Rivera collected - $12,000 per year - and the amount of money that the stable generated - in excess of $300,000 per year. Where did the money go?
The other irrefutable fact is that every stable facility in Southern California makes a profit, except this one.
This is not private property. This land and the facility were built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with federal grant monies.
This facility was built as a prototype of an environmentally sound facility to house animals.
I hope that some of our elected officials take note of this and investigate. Where did the money go?
