American Horse Council, Recreation and Land Use Issues

The Valley Horse Owners Association is a member of the State Horse Councils Advisory Committee of the American Horse Council (or SHCAC for short).

The SHCAC has several sub-committees; Marketing, Trails & Recreation, Fairs & Expos, Communication and Issues. I am the chairman of the Trails & Recreational Sub-Committee and my name is Ken Carpenter from the Wisconsin State Horse Council. As a member of the SHCAC, and a horse trail advocate, I have been appointed to the AHC’s full committee on Recreation and Land Use Issues. As such I form a conduit between this AHC committee and trail riders in your state. There is quite a bit of information that flows from the AHC into our committee that isn’t included in communicate that you normally receive from the AHC. These are of interest to the Trail Riding community.

In order to accomplish a dialog on trail issues between trail riding groups around the country we have created a "group" website on msn just for trail riders. With this site we can share, communicate and provide a place for groups to boast a bit about their state. This email is an invitation for your organization to join this group. As a member of the SHCAC I encourage you to assign someone from your organization that is interested in recreational riding to join this site. I am sure that you have much to share with the rest of us. We look forward to learning about issues in your state and how you are approaching them. Hopefully we can all learn together.
