The Equine Emergency Response Team, sponsored by Animal Reg. held a meeting April 12 to discuss plans and programs for participants. Subjects covered were liability, funding, registration of members training, inspection of rigs, procedures, materials, and other topics. In attendance were Fred Michael, Nancy Moriarty, Hugh Briefman, and Julie Bastian, all from Animal Reg. David Riniker (Sylmar), Mitch Luczinski (Chatsworth), and Tama Lockwood (Lake View Terrace.)
The next meeting will be Friday, April 19, 7:00 PM, at the Chamber-LAPD office on Foothill in Sylmar. On Saturday, July 8, there will be a truck and trailer check, location to be announced.
Horse licensing is essential, since returning horses to their proper address can be facilitated after the emergency is over, since records would be on file, with descriptions of the animal and stable or owner locations, etc.
