Los Angeles- The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Supervisor Antonovich's motion to allocate funds for the purchase of land in Brown's Canyon (January 29th, 2002).
$835,000 will be allocated to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy for the acquisition of this parkland, approximately 14 acres located in the northwestern edge of the San Fernando Valley, north of the 118 freeway between Topanga Canyon Blvd. and Canoga.
"This action expands our natural resources in Los Angeles County," said Antonovich.
The money will come from the Fifth Supervisorial District's Excess Funds Projects Fund allocation of the Safe Neighborhood Parks Proposition of 1992 and 1996.
This acquisition of parkland will connect with the Valley Trail Corridor's western rim and expand the trail system, as well as providing a much-needed staging area for equestrians.
