Oct 2nd 6:30 PM, Meeting of Hansen Dam Park Advisory Board, LVT Rec Center, 11075 Foothill Blvd
Lake View Terrace--The Fair is still looking for a permanent home and named Lake View Terrace, possibly the Hansen Dam Equestrian Center on Orcas Ave, as one of their options. The SF Valley Fair tried this several years ago (2000). Our association was instrumental getting petitions out and getting the facts out to residents. We defeated them in 2000 because residents and group leaders came together and fought against the excessive traffic, noise and loss of trails the year round events would bring to this area. Not only that but they want to open the equestrian access at the end of Christy Ave / Wheatland Ave for cars to enter the fairgrounds and parking.
The Fairgrounds will hold yearly events such as band competitions, car rallies, boat shows, weddings, concerts, flea markets, and much more. They want to attract at least 30,000 plus people per event. We would lose equestrian trails, even the use of the Gabrielino park and arena, and our homes would lose value. They could initiate a bond measure by special assessment that would be distributed among all accessible lots or parcels within a service area!
The Hansen Dam Equestrian Center on Orcas Ave is adjacent to Lake View Terrace residents homes and this area was designated for "passive use".
In the "Master Plan for the Hansen Dam Site" produced by the SF Fair in year 2000, here are more samples of what events they will hold: Circus, concerts, festivals, sporting events, tournaments, amusement rides, summer band concerts, cultural concerts, year round swap meets, and so much more! The long term land requirements are 84.5 acres!
At the next meeting a presentation from the Valley Fair will be presented. It is important you attend to oppose this proposal.
Petitions will be placed at Fast Stop and East Valley Feed and Tack store by this weekend. We can send you an email petition if you would like to help. Letters can also be sent to our PO box address.
