Meeting Update by Den Adair:
On Wednesday, January 7, members of the equestrian community, District 2 Planning Deputy Dale Thrush and Field Deputy Pat Davenport met with John Reidinger, Director or Development, Angeles National Golf Club to discuss the design, planning and construction of the multi-purpose trails within the new golf course. We expressed our concerns regarding the number of trails and the standards of the trails and it's my impression that everyone left the meeting in agreement with a realistic and acceptable expectation of what is being planned.
Mr. Reidinger inidicated his familiarity with the design of multi-purpose trails. He will be involved in the construction and grading as well as the design and type of railing. A staging area with sufficient space for trailers will be created within a safe and acceptable distance to the clubhouse.
Mr Reidinger, who will stay on to manage the course, has expressed a desire to keep an open communication going with the community as the project continues to completion. Den Adair, VHOA and Equestrian Stakeholder representative to the Sunland Tujunga District Neighborhood Council can be contacted to arrange meetings for any group or individuals interested in more information (818) 951-3084.
Monies for Equestrian Trail by Mary Benson:
Construction of a loop trail on the north side of the Tujunga Wash beside the Angeles National Golf Club (formerly, Canyon Hills Golf Course) will begin soon. The trail will be located from the Foothill Bridge at Conover Street to Oro Vista. It will climb up a new Ebey Canyon trail and return to Conover and Foothill along the top of the Bluff. Another trail will connect from the bridge under Foothill Blvd on the South Side of the Wash to the Bridge on the North side by Conover Street.
Angeles National Golf Club, the developer, will contribute money to build an equestrian/pedestrian path on the north side of Foothill Blvd. The trail will begin at Conover and Foothill and continue to Wheatland Ave. in Lakeview Terrace. If you live in this location or are interested in the project, contact: Foothill Trails District Neighborhood Council, Mary Benson, 818-767-5996
