Shadow Hills—Maria Mejia reported that the hearing on her case against the City of Los Angeles and California Home Development, et al., regarding the Wheatland Development was scheduled to be held Thursday, January 8, before Judge Yaffe of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
During all of the squabbling over the Wheatland development, one issue related to the development has not been clearly answered to date. After taking into account all the changes made to the proposals over the last few years, there are still unanswered questions. With the foot print of the large homes proposed, new streets, the promised connectivity to existing trails, and the slope density of key regions of the parcel, do the subplots planned offer sufficient useable acreage for horse keeping? This is not an issue of minimum lot size, but the design of lots that take into account the useable land and distances to adjacent dwellings in addition to the minimum lot size to permit legal horse keeping for all the new homes.
