Tama Lockwood attended meetings and reported on behalf of Kent Lovelady, Volunteer Neighborhood Oversight Committee (VNOC) member that the acquisition of the Aliso Canyon property was approved by the VNOC committee on February 26 and must now be approved by the (LA) City Council.
In February, Dianne Kartiala, Councilman Smith's Rec. & Parks Deputy, organized meetings to address Proposition K funding to purchase land in Aliso Canyon at Rinaldi for a park/equestrian center. Many concerned citizens participated and helped acquire these additional funds. This property needed to be purchased for everyone and for all types of recreation, i.e. staging for trail enthusiasts, equestrian center (perhaps a facility like Ride On as a host), a playground area, etc. There is nothing like this now west of the 405.
