County Board Unanimously Approves Santa Rosa Park

Susan Gardner from Horse Play Central, reported “We will have our new Equestrian Center in the near future.”

“I want to thank the people who have worked on this project and kept it alive for the last 12 years. To the Santa Rosa Valley Homeowners association and their vision for the use of this site. To Ruth Means who never gave up on the dream for the last 12 years.”

The 50 acre Santa Rosa park site has been owned and designated by the county for a park for the last 36 years. The county set aside $528,000 to finance the development of Santa Rosa park from two sources: $253,000 from an agricultural lease of the future park site, and $275,000 in Proposition 12 grant funds specifically for Santa Rosa Park.

After proposition 13 passed in 1978, the County approved a policy that before a new park could be built it would require that the park would and could generate enough revenue to support it's own maintenance. In February, Susan sent out email requesting support for the park at a February 24th hearing.
