Recreation and Parks will be conducting a major volunteer effort to remove the Arundo from the lake around Hansen Dam. The date is May 22, 2004 from 8am-12 noon.
The department is working with the Hansen Dam PAB, the Tujunga Watershed council and the Army Corp to remove the Arundo. Arundo Donax is an invasive weed that chokes out native vegetation and deprives native wildlife of food and shelter.
Volunteers are asked to come help restore Hansen Dam's ecological balance. For more information, contact Michael Harrison, mharrison@rap.lacity.org.
